ECSUS Build A 'Major Step Forward' Says Connexion France Newspaper
Updated: Aug 26, 2019

Connexion France newspaper has featured ECSUS Design's record-breaking 5-day ski chalet build. The article describes our Kingspan SIPs construction system as 'a major step forward' for building in the Alps.
Reporter Ken Seaton writes: "Alpine ski resorts have a 'window' for building of just a few months when there is no snow and ice and when there are few tourists... so building a chalet that meets new environmental standards in just five days is a major step forward."
Our 120msq chalet in Saint Jean de Sixt has gained media attention due to the speed of construction. Once concrete groundworks were ready, it took just 5 days to erect the chalet using lightweight, precision pre-cut Kingspan SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels). The system allows all our new builds to easily meet the new energy efficiency standards set by the French government. They minimise on-site waste and labour costs, and the insulation properties also mean savings on household bills.
The article in Connexion featured ECSUS Design founder Steve Downs, who said: "Due to faster construction times, less waste and their easily-worked, light-weight panels, building can be cheaper than using traditional alpine methods. It's also a much more eco-friendly option due to the construction method and the fact the in-built insulation can allow you to cut heating bills to almost zero - even in the extreme conditions of the Alps - far into the future."
